Six years ago, the creator of the Gran Turismo racing sim, Kazunori Yamauchi, put forward a challenge to auto manufactures to design a prototype of what their respective cars would look like in the future. This was called the Vision Gran Turismo challenge and it has been taken up by brands all over the world including Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and most recently, Lamborghini.

During the final round of the FIA GT series in Monaco, Lamborghini unveiled their version of the Vision GT prototype with the V12 Vision Gran Turismo. It is a striking hypercar that looks as though it belongs in 2119 rather than 2019. As its name suggests, the Lambo V12 Vision GT is based on Lamborghini’s current V12 platform with a V12-hybrid powertrain borrowed from the Sian supercar concept. The whole system produces 807 horsepower and instead of batteries providing the extra oomph, it uses a supercapacitors.
The V12 Vision GT is a single seater car with a jet fighter-like canopy for the driver. Sharp angles followed by smooth curves dictates the air for maximum downforce. While it looks absolutely stunning, to me, it will never see the production line. However, you can drive it in the virtual world in the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport video game that is coming in Spring of 2020 on the PlayStation 4.
But while this may be a design exercise, Lamborghini says that some elements of its design might show up on future production Lamborghini models.
