News: 2021 Cadillac Escalade SUV Brings Luxury & Space

With the recent unveils of the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon/Yukon XL, the all-new Cadillac Escalade was not far behind. The new 2021 Escalade gets more technology, more interior space, and a more luxurious interior.

The new 2021 Cadillac Escalade is nearly 7-inches longer than the outgoing model thanks to a 4-inch longer wheelbase; just like it’s Tahoe & Yukon counterparts. This means that occupants will have more legroom, particularly in the third row where it sees the most growth at 10-inches. The trunk also sees an increase in size to 25.5 cu-ft with all seats up, 63 cu-ft with the third row folded, and 109.1 cu-ft with the second and third rows folded. If you’re needing for more, the larger Escalade ESV offers 126.6 cu-ft of available cargo space.

The exterior receives similar styling cues to that of current Cadillac SUVs. Particularly that of the smaller XT6. The front fascia is nearly identical to that of the XT6 with the similarly shaped grille and headlights. Around back, the iconic vertical taillights remain which extend from the roof to just above the top of the rear bumper. Dual trapezoidal exhaust tips finish off the rear design.

Inside the cabin, the 2021 Escalade sees an all-new dashboard layout with 3 curved OLED screens that have twice the pixel density of 4K television screens. A 7.2-inch left screen displays vehicle information such as the trip computer, a central 14.2-inch driver display for speed, tachometer or navigation, and a 16.9″ infotainment screen to the driver’s right. There are also two 12.6-inch touchscreens for the rear occupants to play games or watch movies.

But the curved OLED screens are not the only new piece of technology in the Cadillac Escalade, a new 36-speaker… yes, thirty-six speaker AKG sound system is available as an option on the higher trim models. Base models receive a mere 19 AKG speaker system. Besides the new sound system, the Escalade will also be available with Cadillac’s latest iteration of Supercruise adaptive cruise control, night vision, soft close doors, wireless phone charging, standard heated front and second row seats, head-up display, and a full suite of advanced safety features.

Powering the 2021 Cadillac Escalade is the 420 hp 6.2L V8 from the GM family of full-size SUVs and pickup trucks. It is the standard engine in the Escalade with the all-new 3.0L inline-6 cylinder Duramax diesel engine as the option. It produces 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Both engines will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission which will send power to the rear or all four wheels. A mechanical limited slip rear differential will be standard while higher trims will receive an electronic locking differential. Customers will be able to choose between Magnetic Ride Control or Four-corner Air Suspension to keep the ride of the Escalade smooth down bumpy roads. And just like the new Yukon and Tahoe, the Escalade will have standard independent rear suspension.

So how much will it cost? Cadillac has not specified but they did say that it will start at around $76,500 USD just like the current 2020 Cadillac Escalade and go up from there. The new 2021 Escalade will go on sale in late summer or early Fall of 2020.
