At a Glance: 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E

The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E is a sporty all‑electric crossover that blends Mustang-inspired performance with practical everyday usability. It offers multiple battery and motor configurations, competitive range, and all the tech and comfort most EV shoppers expect in this segment.

Electric Motors

The 2025 Mustang Mach‑E is built around a choice of single‑motor rear‑wheel drive (RWD) and dual‑motor all‑wheel drive (eAWD) setups, each paired with lithium‑ion battery packs of different capacities. In its standard‑range form, the rear‑drive models produce 264 hp & 387 lb-ft of torque, while the dual‑motor versions rise to 325 hp & 500 lb-ft of torque.

Then there are two different batteries to choose from, Standard Range or Extended Range. Standard has 73 kWh of usable energy and in the RWD configuration, it is rated for 415 km of range. This extended range demo vehicle has an 88 kWh battery and it has an estimated range of up to 515 km.

Handling/Performance

The Mach‑E feels more like a low, planted crossover than a traditional tall SUV, thanks to its battery pack mounted low in the chassis and independent suspension at each corner. Steering is light but accurate, and the car responds quickly to inputs, making highway lane changes and urban manoeuvres feel confident and controlled even in poor weather. Regenerative braking helps slow the vehicle smoothly while recapturing energy, and one‑pedal driving mode allows you to modulate speed using mostly the accelerator, which is especially handy in stop‑and‑go city traffic.

Additionally, the Mach-E can be equipped with Blue Cruise. It made the SUV change lanes without any complications and kept the Mach-E from “bouncing” from one end of the lane to the other. Not once did it feel like it pulled from one side or the other compared to other vehicles with similar control.

Interior

Inside, the 2025 Mach‑E adopts a modern, minimalist design dominated by a large, tablet‑style central touchscreen that houses most major vehicle and infotainment controls. High‑spec Canadian trims typically include synthetic leather seating, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel, which are key comfort features for colder climates, along with dual‑zone automatic climate control and rear air vents to keep all passengers comfortable. The digital instrument cluster ahead of the driver presents speed, range, navigation prompts, and driver‑assist information in a clean, configurable layout.

Space is generous for a compact crossover, with seating for five and a flat floor that improves rear‑seat legroom, while the hatchback cargo area provides ample room for luggage, groceries, or gear. A small front trunk (frunk) adds extra storage flexibility, useful when the rear is full or for keeping messy items separate, and folding rear seats allow larger items like sports equipment or small furniture to fit.

Exterior

Just like the inside, the outside is also great looking. It is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, Brembo front brakes, finicky door handles that I still haven’t decided if I like or hate, along with quite a few other features that are unique to the Mach-E. Going back to the door handles, at first, it may seem a bit confusing as how to open it and how to lock it. It is all with a push of a barely visible button on the doors. After a few times of using it, however, it becomes easy to use and may not be as finicky. Overall, the body of the Mach-E looks sporty in my opinion but wouldn’t call it a Mustang but let’s leave that at that.

Pros/Cons

The great thing about the Mach-E is that you have about 5-7 trim levels in Canada/US to choose from. Each one is equipped to meet your needs. Whether it be that you are looking for an entry level EV that doesn’t need to be as powerful or as premium-like, maybe you’re looking for a decent amount of range and features but something that won’t break the bank, or maybe you are looking to go all out in power and want something that drives fast and maybe a bit on the adventurous side. The options are there, and you just need to decide. The starting price of a Mach E is $52,995 CAD ($37,795 USD) while the Premium I drove as equipped was priced at $74,700 CAD ($58,200 USD). In my opinion this is a great EV SUV that is suitable for small families, it has great cargo capacity, comfortable seats for all passengers, and has a great range of electricity regardless of which trim level you choose.
