The 2021 Hyundai Elantra has a design that is much more sporty than previous Elantra designs. Sharp angles in the front bumper, doors, and rear bumper give the Elantra an aggressive look. The body is wider, longer, and lower with a more coupe-like roofline.

The changes in dimensions correspond to a lower seating position which allows for more headroom, legroom and shoulder room. The 2021 Elantra also boasts a larger trunk with 14.2 cu-ft of space which Hyundai says is 8% more than the Toyota Corolla.

Sticking with the interior, the top trim of the 2021 Hyundai Elantra will feature Mercedes-Benz-like dual 10.25″ screens displaying the driver instrument cluster & infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be available along with a slew of advanced safety features, most of which will be standard. They include forward collision alert with emergency automatic braking, lane keep assist, lane following assist, high beam assist, driver attention warning, and backup camera. Optional safety features include blind spot collision avoidance, smart cruise control, highway driving assistant, safe exit warning, and reverse parking collision avoidance.

Under the hood will be a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine producing 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. Power will be sent to the front wheels via Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission. Fuel economy figures have not been released but Hyundai is keen on making the Elantra the best-in-class in terms of fuel economy figures.

But if you want your fuel budget to go the extra mile… or miles, the 2021 Hyundai Elantra will be available as a hybrid for the first time ever. The Elantra hybrid will use a naturally aspirated 1.6L 4-cylinder engine that will be mated to a 32kW electric motor for a total system output of 139 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Again, no fuel economy figures are available but the Elantra Hybrid is poised to take on the Honda Insight and Toyota Corolla Hybrid, both of which can hit 50+ mpg (4.7 L/100km). Expect the 2021 Elantra Hybrid to be over 50+ mpg as well.

Pricing for either vehicle has not been announced but production is set to begin in the Fall with deliveries a little later in the year.
