The 2024 Honda Civic Si is a stylish and desirable sedan for those wanting a fun but not overly expensive performance car.
Engine/Transmission
The Civic Si has a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 200hp and 192lb-ft of torque. It is available with only a 6-speed manual transmission which is a bit rare in most modern cars. The Si is rated for 8.7L/100km in a city and 6.4L/100km in a hwy. I averaged 6.7L/100km which was good considering my driving style tends to be a bit more on the spirited side.
Handling/Performance
I love manuals as it is fun and engaging to drive, however I prefer a clutch that is heavier vs a soft or light clutch. A heavier clutch feels more engaging and with the clutch in the Si, I found it to be too light that requires concentration so that it does not jerk when starting from a stop. For those who prefer a manual and like the soft feel, then the Si is perfect as you may even forget you’re in a manual with how soft the release of the clutch can be. Other than that, it was enjoyable to drive as it is very responsive in sharp turns, it feels well planted to the ground, so you don’t feel like you’re going to end up in the opposite direction of where you want to go. I would prefer it if it was a bit faster than what it is rated for or at least feel quick, but it didn’t, at least not to me. Once on the go, however, it becomes fun to drive.
Comfort
I found the sport seats in the Si to be very comfortable and even for long drives. I found myself sitting in an upright position vs slouching when driving. In terms of riding comfort, it is not going to be smooth but that’s because of its precise handling. Going over potholes or bumpy pavement will feel stiffer but nothing that can’t be managed. The rear seats are also comfortable and wide so should be comfortable enough for most body types.
Interior
The Honda Civic Si has a great looking interior, nothing too fancy but also not boring looking. As mentioned earlier, the seats are great and look good on the car. Driver seat has a 6-way manual adjustment while the front passenger seat has 4-way manual adjustment. The rear seats can fold 60/40 and have a generous amount of space to seat 2 adults, so kids shouldn’t have an issue. It is equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen and is user friendly, so you won’t have issues with learning to use it or navigating around it. Cargo space is also quite generous with 408L so you can fit your belongings. Legroom is also plentiful for a sedan at 42.3 inches (1,074mm) in the front and 37.4 inches (950mm) in the rear.
Exterior
Although a hatchback is not available for the Si, it is still stylish as a 4-door sedan. It has a sporty look to it with its 18-inch alloy wheels, trunk spoiler, dual exhaust, and grille. As an economical performance vehicle, I think it looks great.
Pros/Cons
The 2024 Honda Civic Si is a comfortable sedan and as a Honda, you can be assured that it is reliable. It is fuel efficient while still being a performance vehicle, it is a fun ride especially while on a spirited drive, comfortable for both the driver and passengers, spacious enough if you need to carry items, and just a great overall sedan. The starting price however isn’t that cheap, it is more on the expensive side starting at $35,630 CAD ($29,100 USD). For this price, there are faster cars that you can choose from. It all depends on what you care for the most. Do you prefer speed over driving dynamics, do you prefer speed over reliability, and the list could go on.
