Review: 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback Touring

Want an inexpensive and good quality vehicle? Then say no more because I know of one, and that is the 2023 Honda Civic. In Canada, there are 5 trim levels with the Touring being the top trim which is the one I was able to test drive. It is stylish, comfortable, decently spacious and a budget friendly sedan.

Engine/Transmission

The 2023 Honda Civic Hatch Touring has a 1.5L 4-cylinder Turbo engine with a CVT automatic. It produces 180hp and 177lb-ft of torque. The Touring is rated for 7.6L/100km in the city and 6.1L/100km on the highway. I averaged a combined 6.6L/100km with mostly just highway driving. 0-60miles (96km/h) is said to be done in under 8 seconds, while that is not fast, it does not struggle from a start.

Handling/Performance

It does not feel underpowered as you do not need to push it to accelerate, it is still an enjoyable ride. Overtaking another vehicle is not going to be a struggle, though of course you don’t want to try overtaking a V8 at high speeds. During my time with it, I found it to be a smooth drive. It was quick to respond to my inputs, it is easy to maneuver and feels stable. It still feels somewhat sporty, but I wouldn’t say its at par with the Mazda3 sport. Of course, the Civic having a smaller engine, is slower but the performance and how it drives is also bit less sporty. It is however a great car for daily commutes to and from work, running errands, and even for road trips.

Comfort

The Civic Touring can be comfortable for a small family. It has a good amount of trunk space to fit your belongings, great passenger space and I’d say it’s perfect for a couple. With the back seats down, you get so much more space to be able to fit as many items as possible for long road trips. Unfortunately, the seat adjustments aren’t all that great for the front seats, so after sitting for a while, you will need to take breaks and stretch as it can hurt the lower back a bit due to the position of the seat.

Interior

I think the Civic Touring looks great on the inside; I really like the modern look it has especially with the style of the air vents. It is equipped with a 9.0-inch infotainment display which is very easy to use. It is equipped standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless connection. You also get physical buttons for the important controls so that’s also a great thing. It is equipped with quite a few features that you would want in a vehicle.

Exterior

Just like the inside, the Touring looks great on the outside as well. Its like the complete package. Who doesn’t want a good-looking car both inside and out? It is very youthful looking in my opinion. It is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, sun/moonroof, and quite a few safety features as well.

Pros/Cons

Overall, the Honda Civic Touring is a great car; it is stylish, spacious, budget friendly and drives great! Whether you decide to go for the base model or the top model, I think you will be satisfied with either. The starting price of the LX is $26,285CAD and $27,750USD for the EX in the US. For the Touring, it is $33,350CAD and $31,445USD so still an affordable price in my opinion for a great car.
