Sporty and Luxury are usually words that don’t go together in the same sentence but that hasn’t stopped Mercedes-Benz and Audi from trying. These two companies attempted to blend comfort and speed into their models but doing so in totally different ways.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG is a sedan designed to look like a 2-door coupe and have the luxurious interior of it’s cousin, the S-Class. But under the hood is a 5.4L supercharged V8 capable of developing 476hp and 516 lb-ft of torque which at the time made it into one of the fastest accelerating and most capable sports sedans on the market.

By contrast the Audi TT RS was designed to be a sports car with it’s 2-door body, short wheelbase, and 400hp turbocharged 5-cylinder engine. But Audi didn’t make it an unbearable sports car whenever it drove over a bump. The Audi TT RS has comfortable seats, a quiet cabin, and is available with magnetic ride control which can soften or stiffen the suspension.

In the end, these two cars may look completely different but they are both trying to blend two worlds on the opposite end of the spectrum.
