News: Welcome Back the All-New 2021 Toyota Venza

The old Toyota Venza was the odd one out in the Toyota lineup. It was bigger than the Rav4 but smaller than the Highlander & 4Runner. It had quirky styling and was, more than anything, a raised station wagon. But it didn’t do so well as it was only around from 2008 to 2015. Now it appears that Toyota is going to give it another shot with the completely new 2021 Venza.

The new Venza still slots in the same spot in the lineup like the old one. It is a bit bigger than the Rav4 but smaller than the Highlander and is only a 2-row crossover SUV. It embodies Toyota’s new design langue which seems to be following the current trend of outrageously large grilles in the front and a wrap around tail lamp bar in the back. If anything, it looks extremely similar to a Lexus model than a Toyota model.

But styling aside, the new 2021 Toyota Venza will be a hybrid. a naturally aspirated 2.5L engine will do most of the heavy lifting while 3 electric motors will provide assistance for a total system output of 219 hp. Of course official estimates of fuel efficiency figures are not available yet but Toyota estimates up to 40 mpg (5.9 L/100km) combined. A CVT transmission will send the power to an electronic on-demand AWD system that can send up to 80% of the power to the back wheels to reduce front-wheel slippage.

Occupants will stay safe thanks to standard 8 airbags, traction control and Toyota Sense 2.0 which includes full-speed radar guided cruise control, lane departure warning, lane trace, automatic high beam, and road sign assist.

On the inside, the 2021 Venza will be available with an 8-inch touchscreen as standard while higher trims will receive a 12.3-inch screen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, & bluetooth will all be standard. Other screens include a 7-inch gauge cluster for top trim models and a 10-inch heads-up display. The Toyota Venza will also be the first crossover with a “Star Glaze” panoramic sunroof. It is an electromagnetic glass that allows it to be transparent or opaque at the touch of a button.

Official pricing and delivery dates have not been released yet but expect it to cost between the price of the Rav4 Hybrid & Highlander Hybrid with deliveries most likely in the second half of 2020.
