News: The GTS Name is Back with the Unveiling of the 2021 Porsche Cayenne GTS

The GTS designation on Porsche models is typically synonymous with performance oriented characteristics. Whether it’s on the back of the 911 or the Cayman or the Boxster, the GTS models have always had the perfect balance of power and precise handling. The GTS name also found its way to the Cayenne SUV and now with the introduction of the 3rd generation Cayenne in 2018, it wasn’t long before a 2021 Porsche Cayenne GTS would be available to buy.

The last Porsche Cayenne GTS was powered by a bi-turbo V6 which was powerful at 434 hp but it lacked the characteristics of the even older 4.8L V8. This new Cayenne GTS gets a V8 again that displaces 4.0L and is assisted by a pair of turbocharges for an output of 453 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. There is of course the Turbo S with 541 hp and 567 lb-ft of torque but that’s also significantly more expensive. But even with the slightly lower horsepower figures, the 2021 Porsche Cayenne GTS will accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 270 km/h (168 mph).

This being the more sporty model of the Cayenne range, the suspension has been lowered by 20mm and comes with standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). Optional air suspension further lowers the Cayenne body by 10mm for a total of 30mm over the Cayenne S. Other handling options on the Cayenne GTS will include Carbon ceramic brakes, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilization system, and rear-axle steering.

The exterior will have a fascia that is similar to that of the Cayenne Turbo S while around back is a pair of dual exhaust outlets at either end of the bumper. Those that go for the Cayenne Coupe can opt for a sports exhaust system that features dual oval shaped exhaust pipes in the center of the rear bumper. 21-inch RS Spyder wheels are standard along with red brake calipers.

The interior is fitted with Alcantara along the headliner, seats, steering wheel, doors, and center console. Black brushed aluminum accents cover the rest of the center console along with GTS logos on the seats, door sills, and rev counter.

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne GTS is available to order now with deliveries taking place towards the end of summer.
