News: Ducati Streetfighter V2 “Coming Soon Rather Than Later”

In a recent interview with Ducati boss Claudio Domenicali, MotorcycleNews.com has learned that a streetfighter version of their newest V2 Panigale will “come sooner rather than later”.

“We now have the Panigale V2 that makes 155bhp and puts you in the range where you can experience exciting sport riding without being extreme and we would like to have naked bikes in different categories, too.” Ducati CEO said.

The Panigale V2 replaced the aging 959 Panigale as their middleweight sport bike offering. The V2 Panigale takes much of its features from the V4 Panigale including the twin monoblock Brembo calipers with cornering ABS, quickshifter & autobliper, electronic engine braking, MotoGP derived anti-wheelie and traction control. The Ducati V2 Panigale has a more modest power output of 155 hp from its 955cc liquid cooled V-twin engine.

If the Ducati V4 Streetfighter is anything to go by, the new Ducati V2 Streetfighter will take much, if not all, of the same components from the Panigale V2. The only difference will be the lack of fairings and a new headlamp arrangement that will presumably be similar to it’s V4 bigger brother.

Pricing will most likely be similar to that of the V4 Panigale and V4 Streetfighter where the naked version costs about 20% less. But we’ll have to wait a while longer to find out for sure.
