The Lexus IS in its current generation has been around for 7 years and from the looks of the 2021 Lexus IS, it will be around for another 7 years. Ok, I’m being a bit cruel but you have to admit, the 2021 IS looks remarkably similar to the 2020 Lexus IS.
The front hourglass grille is wider and taller with the LED daytime running light blades incorporated into the headlight housings. The side looks almost identical to the outgoing model, right down to the same upwards flare over the rear wheels. It’s in the back that the new 2021 Lexus IS looks a bit different than the outgoing model due to the LED light bar that extends from one side of the car to the other.
The interior remains almost unchanged as well apart from a larger infotainment screen (10.3-inches) along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard on lower trims. One other change is the addition of a trackpad should you not want to control the infotainment system via touch.
The new 2021 Lexus IS is physically longer and wider than the outgoing model but the wheelbase remains unchanged. Engines also remain unchanged with the rear-wheel-drive IS300 trim receiving a 2.0L turbo that produces 241 hp and the all-wheel-drive IS300 receiving a 260 hp 3.5L V6. The top spec IS350 F-Sport will be available with a 3.5L V6 that produces 311 hp and be available with RWD or AWD. An 8-speed automatic will be mated to the rear-wheel-drive cars while a 6-speed auto will be available with the AWD variants.
Prices for the different trims will most likely be similar to current Lexus IS models and expect to see the 2021 Lexus IS in dealerships this Fall.
