News: 2021 Honda Civic Type-R Goes R-Rated

No, it’s not going to star in a PornHub movie but it is going to get a road-legal, track focused trim. Dubbed as the Limited Edition, this 2021 Honda Civic Type R will be limited to just 600 examples which will surely make it a collectable item.

This Type-R LE will have its own unique serial number that will not be “diluted” by the normal production of the Civic Type-R. You also won’t be able to miss the Limited Edition Civic Type R as it will only be offered in Phoenix Yellow. A colour that is more famously found on the original Integra Type-R. In addition to the colour, the 2021 Civic Type R will also have a gloss black roof, mirror caps, dark chrome Civic badge on the rear and black intake vent on the hood.

Underneath the yellow body, the car will shed weight thanks to unique forged BBS alloy wheels that Honda says reduce unsprung weight by 18 lbs. But the weight shedding doesn’t stop at the wheels as the Limited Edition Type-R will have reduced sound deadening materials, no rear wiper, no tonneau cover, and no rear heater ducts. All of this removes an additional 28 lbs.

The engine remains the same the standard Civic Type R with 306 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque being produced by a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission and through a limited slip differential. The adaptive dampers though have been re-tuned as has the steering to provide better control and feedback.

Pre-orders for the 2021 Honda Civic Type-R Limited Edition should start a little later in the Spring with deliveries towards the end of the year or early into next year.
