At a Glance: 2025 Mercedes CLE 300 4-Matic Coupe

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 Coupe is a comfortable luxury vehicle to drive. It may not be the sportiest coupe to drive but it still is quick when you push it. As we know, this CLE replaces the C-Class and E-Class coupe & cabriolet equivalents.

Engine/Transmission

The 2025 CLE 300 Coupe is available with a 2.0L Inline-4 Turbo with a 48V Mild Hybrid System. It is available as standard with all wheel drive and is paired with a 9-Speed automatic transmission. It produces 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. So, 0-100km/h (62 mph) is said to be reached in a little over 6 seconds. Fuel economy is not that bad thanks to its mild hybrid system as it is rated for 9.8 L/100km in a city and 7.1 L/100km on a highway. I averaged 9.1 L/100km combined leaning towards more city driving.

Handling/Performance

The CLE 300 Coupe is mostly for comfort and not so much performance. It is a great car to sit in and enjoy the drive, but it will not react like a sports car. Now this is not to say that it is not engaging because it does pick up speed quick and overtaking another vehicle is not an issue whatsoever. What I want to say is that it will not give you the same “push you back in your seat” feeling when accelerating from a stop as an AMG model, for example. You will not get that thrill or rush as you would in a high-performance vehicle. However, if comfort and great looks is what you want, then this CLE 300 coupe is great as it ticks off all the boxes for comfortability. Driving the CLE 300 is effortless even in tight spaces as it is quick to react to your inputs. Driving over potholes or bumpy roads is not an issue as its suspension absorbs bumps easily.

Comfort/Interior

Sitting in the CLE300 Coupe is perfect for the front passenger and driver only but not so much for the rear passengers. The space behind the rear seats is almost nonexistent especially if the front passenger/driver pushes their seat all the way back. Unfortunately, I don’t feel there is enough space yet even though this CLE gained more legroom compared to the C-Class Coupe. It might work fine for short individuals but not for someone above 5ft 8in. you will also have an issue with headroom because it is a coupe, it curves lower for the rear passengers meaning less headroom. I always say Mercedes is quite ‘extra’ with their interior designs and I’m all for it! It is classic and contemporary. It is equipped with a 11.9-in infotainment touchscreen which is straightforward to use.

Exterior

Some may not be a fan of the coupe look but I think its great! It looks sporty to me with its curved roof and back. It is equipped with 19-in alloy wheels and you have the option of 2 packages which are the AMG Line Package and the Pinnacle Trim Package. I think it adds a better look to the CLE if you get the AMG Package which includes a sport steering wheel, AMG exterior and styling packages, sport suspension, and ARTICO dashboard.

Pros/Cons

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 Coupe is overall a great car. Although it does not have much legroom for the rear passengers, it is greater than its competitors. Then again, if a Coupe is on your list of options, worrying about passengers’ space is probably not important. It is a comfortable car to sit in and to drive as it absorbs bumps providing a smooth ride. It also has a quiet cabin. It is however a bit more expensive than the C-Class but less expensive than the E-Class so again it sits right in the middle. So, if a sports car isn’t all that important to you then I think this CLE 300 is a great option. Now if you’re wanting a more engaging vehicle, you may want to consider the CLE 53 AMG which of course is more expensive but again less than the other AMG models. The starting price of the 2025 CLE 300 Coupe is $62,500 CAD ($59,150 USD).
