At a Glance: 2025 Honda CR-V TrailSport Hybrid

The 2025 Honda CR-V Trailsport is a great top choice for many families as Hondas are known for their reliability, comfort and spacious interior for a compact SUV.

Engine/Transmission

With the CR-V, you have the option of gas or hybrid. I was able to drive the Hybrid which is is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine combined with a dual motor hybrid system. It produces a combined 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. It includes all wheel drive so it is great if you live in an area where it may snow and it may be necessary for easier handling when driving. It is also available with 4 drive modes: ECON, Normal, Sport, and Snow. The CR-V Trailsport is rated for 6.3 L/100km in a city and 7.2 L/100km on a highway. So, with hybrids, these work best in a city as you can use more of the electric motors, whereas on highways, you end up using more fuel.

Handling/Performance

Driving in the CR-V is not going to be an enthusiastic drive. It is straightforward and meant to be comfortable, reliable and fuel efficient to name my top 3. I mostly drove in the normal mode as I find this to be useful for day to day driving without feeling like I need to push the gas pedal to get going. It won’t pick up speed like a sports SUV for example, but that’s ok because again, this CR-V is meant to be fuel efficient. You will notice a slight difference when you switch it to Sport mode as this will make starting from a stop be a bit faster. Other than that, sport mode isn’t going to make your drive any more entertaining.

Comfort/Interior

For a compact SUV, I was quite impressed with the amount of space in the front and back seats. Looking at it from the outside, it doesn’t look all that big, but the inside is very spacious. I was able to drive with 4 adults, and all had enough space for both leg and head space so children would not have an issue at all. One thing I found very intriguing was the 90-degree angle of the rear doors. It is just perfect for families with small children as it is easy to put them in their car seats without having the door in your way. The interior of the CR-V doesn’t have a wow factor, but it has all that you need in a compact SUV. It looks great and has nice materials to the touch. It has a mix of physical buttons for those who prefer it along with a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Exterior

I think the 2025 CR-V looks great both inside and out. This one is the new off-road inspired TrailSport trim and is equipped with 18-inch wheels and well, I quite like how it looks all black. It doesn’t look boring to me and could just be the perfect compact SUV. Although I drove the Trailsport, it doesn’t feel like it truly belongs out in the wilderness, as it is only equipped with somewhat of off-road tires and that’s about it. Other looks wise, it looks like a normal compact SUV.

Pros/Cons

The 2025 Honda CR-V, as I mentioned before, is not an enthusiastic drive. If fun is what you are aiming for, then you have options like the Mazda CX-5 for example. Or if you are wanting a more off-road SUV, then you could consider the Bronco. The CR-V Trailsport is great for some outdoorsy fun like camping at a designated campsite while also using it for day-to-day driving, taking kids to school, and heading to work while driving mostly in a city for better fuel economy. It is comfortable as it is spacious both in the front and back seats. You also have decent cargo space for groceries, kids’ sports equipment, etc. The starting price of the 2025 Honda CR-V Trailsport is $50,425 CAD ($34,650 USD).
