The 2025 Genesis G80 is a luxury mid-size sedan that can be quite catchy to look at. It has a great style and overall, a very classy looking car. It is also comfortable as it is spacious, but it is it worth it more so than its competitors? Well, what I can say is that it is very premium like to begin with like its competitors.
Engine/Transmission
The 2025 Genesis G80 is available with a 2.5L turbocharged I4 engine and a 3.5L twin turbocharged V6 engine and both are standard as all-wheel drive and paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. During my week, I drove the 3.5L which produces 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. It is rated for 15.6 L/100km in a city and 10.2 L/100km on a highway while I averaged 10.2 L/100km with mostly highway driving.
Handling/Performance
Driving the G80 is enjoyable as it responds to your inputs smoothly. It feels agile when taking it around corners, but you can feel it lean a bit which stops you from pushing it too much, but I would say it still behaves very much like a sports car. I wouldn’t say drives like a proper sports car because it isn’t meant to be one, but it is still a fun sedan to drive. It picks up speed effortlessly while providing a comfortable ride. Whether you decide to drive enthusiastically or relaxed, the G80 delivers a great experience both ways. While cruising, it shifts gears smoothly and absorbs bumps and uneven pavement quite nicely for better ride quality.
Comfort/Interior
The great thing about the Genesis G80 is how spacious it is, for both front and back seats. The front seats offer plenty of adjustment settings for a comfortable seating position. It is spacious enough for taller individuals and spacious in the rear seats. The slight issue might be for those with long torsos as their heads may gently brush against the headliner due to its sloping roof design. Other than that, legroom should not be an issue. The interior of the G80 is very premium to look at and touch. It is equipped with Nappa Leather seats, microfibre suede headliner which I find to be very attractive in vehicles. It is also equipped with a new 27-inch touchscreen and instrument cluster. It has a very stylish interior design with all the materials used and although it still has some physical buttons and knobs, it does not look overcrowded.
Exterior
Just like interior, it is also great looking from the outside. It is stylish with its sharp looks, at least in my opinion. I know it may not be the case for some people, but I do like how it looks with its front grille and LED lights. It is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels. Overall, a great looking classy sedan.
Pros/Cons
Unfortunately, it is no longer the cheapest sedan compared to its competitors. It is slightly more expensive than the Audi A6 for example, but it looks more stylish in my opinion and it comes very well equipped compared to other luxury sedans. It is cheaper than the Volvo S90, however, that has been discontinued but still a very great car and worth it. One of my favourites to this day. If you are looking for a spacious and somewhat of a fun vehicle, then the G80 is one to consider. It is fun if you want to drive enthusiastically and it is also comfortable if you choose to drive at cruising speeds. It is also stylish, and you get a lot of features for what it is worth which makes it a bit of a bargain in my opinion. The starting price of the 2025 Genesis G80 is $89,000 CAD ($77,000 USD).
