Introducing the all-new Plug-In Hybrid Mazda CX-90. Yes, you read that right, it is Mazda’s first Hybrid ever. Like the CX-9, the CX-90 is a three-row seater, but it is longer and wider for more comfort.
The CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid is powered by a 2.5L inline-4 and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission which is different than their usual 6-speed. It is equipped with a 17.8kWh battery combining for a total of 323hp and 369lb-ft of torque (241kW & 500Nm). The CX-90 will also be available with a new 3.3L inline-6 with 340hp and 369lb-ft of torque (253kW & 500Nm). According to Mazda, the CX-90 will be able to drive on electric mode only and for a decent amount of range so that is something to look forward to.
The interior is just as great as the exterior. It looks very premium like with its Nappa leather seats, wood, and other materials used throughout the cabin, and we can be sure it won’t break the bank. The CX-90 will be available in 6, 7- and 8-seater configuration. It is equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and has physical buttons for the important controls. Although the native infotainment system is controlled by the traditional knobs and buttons on the center console, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto will allow the use of the touchscreen. The CX-90 will be available with 21-inch alloy wheels and is introduced with it a new color, Artisan Red.
The 2023 Mazda CX-90 is said to provide a smooth driving yet engaging experience. Mazda has not yet released the electric-only driving range for the PHEv variant nor pricing but with the little info that has been provided, it makes it worth the wait. It is said to be released in Spring of 2023.
