At a Glance: 2026 Genesis GV70 Electrified

Genesis never disappoints with their vehicles in recent years. The 2026 GV70 Electrified Prestige version is just as great as the gasoline version because although it looks very modern, it does not look like most electric vehicles with their extreme futuristic looks.

Electric Motor

The Genesis GV70 electrified is available with dual electric motors and are supplied by an 84 kWh battery. It has an estimated driving range of up to 402km and is rated for 23.2kWh/100km. It produces 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque so it is quick and has a sporty feel. Charging the GV70 can take anywhere between 20 minutes to 7 hours depending on which level of charger you use. Level 3 (350kW) will take 20 mins from 10-80% whereas with a level 2, it can take 7 hours to fully charge. In Canada the GV70 electrified is available in the Advanced or Prestige trim but both comes with AWD.

Handling/Performance

Driving in the GV70 electrified is a comfortable ride on a highway and city driving. It easily picks up speed and it’s one of those vehicles that you need to keep an eye on because it is such a smooth ride you can easily go over the speed limit. Driving on windy roads is great but not as sporty as the gasoline version. It still, however, feels stable and planted. Cabin noise is not an issue either as it is quiet thanks to its updated active noise cancellation system. Although the GV70 prioritizes comfort over sport drive, it is still enjoyable.

Comfort/Interior

The interior of the GV70 is comfortable with proper seats for great support. It is spacious enough for a small family and decent cargo space. It is equipped with a 27-inch OLED instrument cluster & navigation system screen that is straightforward to use as it has large icons shown as slides for easy access. It is equipped with a tri-zone automatic climate control that is not integrated in the infotainment screen and instead has its own touchscreen below the “music row” which are capacitive touch. The only buttons or knobs you will find are the volume control. The steering wheel also has some capacitive touch controls so long gone are those physical buttons but I really don’t mind it in this Genesis GV70. I really like that at least the climate control, and music controls are separated from the main screen. Overall, the GV70 electric is beautiful both inside and out with its great looks, materials used throughout the cabin giving it that luxury touch and feel.

Exterior

The GV70 electric is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, has a large panoramic sunroof and overall a great look as mentioned earlier. It truly does look expensive overall. Although Genesis may not be at par with German rivals for example, I believe they have done a great job at keeping up with the vehicle’s aesthetic to look like its rivals. Lining up a GV70, Audi Q6 and maybe a BMW ix3 would all look equally expensive and luxurious both inside and out.

Pros/Cons

I find that the GV70 is an ideal SUV and I can see myself in one in the near future whether it be the gas or electric version. However, if a hybrid were to come, then that is a win-win situation and I’m sure there are quite a few others that would feel the same way. It may not drive like a sports SUV but it still has that kick to it that will make you enjoy the drive. It is also spacious enough for a small family and is equipped with a lot of features as standard compared to its rivals that include features as add-ons. Of course, you can add more to the GV70 to make it fully loaded but I think just as standard is perfectly fine. Although it is great when it comes to comfort, luxurious interior, and great materials, it has a  bit less driving range compared to its competitors. The starting price of the Genesis GV70 electrified is $88,500 CAD ($76,845 USD).
