At a Glance: 2025 Genesis G70 Sport

A sporty & comfortable car is hard to come by. But the 2025 Genesis G70 Sport is about as close as it comes to this perfect blend of enjoyable driving and everyday comfort in a luxury sedan.

Engine/Transmission

The Genesis G70 is available with a turbo 2.5L 4-cylinder engine or a 3.3L twin-turbo V6. This car had the V6 motor. It is capable of producing 365 hp (+3hp w/ Variable Exhaust) and 376 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive. With this engine, the G70 is rated for 10.7 L/100km on a highway and 14.3 L/100km in a city. I managed to average 11.2 L/100km while I drove the car.

Handling/Performance

The G70 Sport competes against many luxury brands such as the BMW 3-series and Mercedes-Benz C300. Compared to those, it has the sporty handling of the BMW but with the comfort of the Mercedes. The engine quickly accelerates the car with the transmission quickly going through the gears. The steering is direct and the car feels planted through corners. But at the same time, the electronically controlled suspension is soft enough to cope with daily commutes on potholed city streets.

Comfort

The 2025 Genesis G70 Sport is not the biggest luxury sedan among its competitors but space in the front seats for my 5’10” height is enough. The front seats are very comfortable for my body size. They have plush padding and are wide with this Sport trim having 16-way adjustments. The back seats are a bit tight, however, with this G70 having less legroom than the Mercedes C300 & BMW 330i. This car also has less cargo space than the German rivals with just 297 L of space.

Interior

The G70 Sport has a luxurious feeling interior with a lot of leather and premium materials throughout. There is quilted leather on the door panels which matches the same pattern as on the seats. There’s also leather on the dashboard and most of the center console. The instrument cluster has crisp graphics and can imitate a 3D perspective. But this just made my eyes strain a bit more than normal and it makes the numbers look a bit fuzzy so I just left this feature off. One feature that could use some refinement is the wireless phone charging pad. It is big for larger phones but through corners, my phone kept sliding on it.

Exterior

The 2025 G70 Sport is a good looking car in my eyes. From the large grille and big wheels to the proportions, the G70 looks the part of a sporty & luxurious car. The 3.3T Sport comes with 19” alloy wheels and high-performance summer tires. I also like the large red brake calipers that peek through the wheels. In the back, the G70 3.3T Sport has dual oval tipped exhaust pipes and the tail lights have a similar design to the front daytime running lights.

Pros/Cons

Overall, I really liked the 2025 Genesis G70 Sport. It’s a lot of fun to drive but it’s also comfortable to use on your way to work. Perhaps as a family vehicle, it’s a little bit too small. The Genesis G80 will be a better bet as it has more interior space with a bit more of a luxury feel. The 2025 G70 starts at $54,500 CAD for the 2.5T while this 3.3T Sport will cost you $65,500 CAD.
