At a Glance: 2025 Ford Maverick Tremor

The 2025 Ford Maverick Tremor is a small, compact truck which appeals to drivers looking for everyday practicality, off-road versatility, and crossover SUV fuel economy.

Engine/Transmission

At the core of the Ford Maverick is a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. A hybrid engine is available but it is not available with this Tremor trim. The engine’s power is sent through an 8-speed automatic and the Tremor comes with an advanced all-wheel-drive system. It has a twin-clutch rear differential which allows it to send up to 70% of torque to a single rear wheel if need be. With the 2.0L turbo engine, the Maverick Tremor is rated for 11.2 L/100km in a city and 8.7 L/100km on a highway. I averaged 10.1 L/100km.

Handling/Performance

The Maverick Tremor with the 2.0L engine feels quick. It picks up speed very quickly without much effort from your right foot. Driving the Ford Maverick around a city is easy because it’s roughly the same size as a regular crossover SUV. Because it’s a Tremor, it has a few off-road add-ons such as a 1” lift kit, off-road tuned suspension, the twin-clutch rear differential, and all-terrain tires. It does have the same off-road prowess as something like the Ford Bronco, but the Tremor trim allows for a bit of fun without needing to worry about getting stuck in a bit of mud.

The bed of the Ford Maverick is 4.5 feet long and can carry up to 1,500 lbs of stuff in it. Towing is 2,000 lbs but if you option your Maverick with the 4K package, it will increase the maximum tow rating to 4,000 lbs.

Comfort/Interior

There is a lot of space in the front seats of the 2025 Ford Maverick Tremor. However, taller individuals will find the rear seats to be very cramped. Even for my 5’10” height, I found it tight back there. For 2025, the Maverick has a larger 13.2” touchscreen with SYNC 4 infotainment system. The touchscreen is easy to use and there are no issues at all with navigating around the infotainment system. There’s also a new driver screen that is standard on all trims. Road noise is evident while on highways due to the all-terrain tires. There’s also some engine noise when accelerating hard but that I didn’t mind because it sounds pretty good.

Exterior

With the 2025 model year, the Ford Maverick is new in this off-road Tremor trim. There’s also a new on-road focused trim called the Lobo while the XL, XLT, and Lariat carryover. The 2025 Maverick has new headlights with new daytime running lights, a new grille, and this Tremor receives orange highlights. I think it looks like a proper truck but just a bit smaller.

Pros/Cons

The 2025 Ford Maverick Tremor is a great little truck. It’s easy to drive in a city, it has a truck bed if you need to carry a few things, and it’s about as economical as a crossover SUV especially if you go for the hybrid engine. But it has increased in price over the years. It used to start from well under $30,000 CAD but it now starts at $34,600 CAD with this Tremor costing $48,100 CAD.
