At a Glance: 2025 Cadillac CT5 Sport

The 2025 Cadillac CT5 Sport is great looking but is it worth its price tag? Would a higher trim be more satisfying than the base model? Or are there better options out there to consider?

Engine/Transmission

The CT5 Sport is available with an all-wheel-drive 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engine with the Premium Luxury being available with a 2.0L and a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine. I drove the Sport 2.0L and to say the least, it just didn’t match its looks. From a first look, you may think it’s a fast car, which it can be, just not as a 2.0L. If you are looking for a bit more fun, the V6 is the best option. The 2.0L produces 237hp and 258lb-ft of torque while the V6 produces 335hp and 405lb-ft of torque with premium fuel. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The smaller engine is rated for 10.2 L/100km in a city and 7.4 L/100km on a hwy. I averaged 10.9 L/100km with mostly highway driving and a lot of enthusiastic driving along the way.

Handling/Performance

As I mentioned earlier, the 2.0L engine isn’t the greatest as it does not feel as sporty as per its name. 0-100 km/h does not feel as quick and while on the go, overtaking a vehicle is not as quick as you would like it to be. To overtake you need to push it a bit. This small engine works great for someone looking to save on fuel as that was the great thing about it. There are other vehicles that are not necessarily a direct competitor but are faster than the 2.0L CT5 and feel sportier to drive. While cruising, however, I can’t complain, it was a comfortable ride, and it absorbed bumps quite smoothly. Driving on highways was very smooth with minimal road noise. Steering is also precise and very easy to maneuver even though it can feel like a larger sedan. One thing I must say is that the brake pedal can be a bit sensitive. So, I was told to watch out for this, but I didn’t think it was that sensitive. To make it simple, you need to learn to have a light foot when it comes to braking. A light touch and it brakes quite quickly and if you’re not careful, it almost feels like you are slamming on the brakes.  After a while though, it is something you get used to.

Interior

The interior of the CT5 is a pretty place to be in. It is very stylish and nice to the touch as well. I really liked the touch of adding LED ambient lighting as it is customizable. It is also equipped with heated, massaging and ventilated front seats, leather seats. It is also equipped with a 33-inch diagonal LED display which makes the interior look very sophisticated. It is the latest Google-based infotainment system. It is very straightforward to navigate around and I really do like that it is still equipped with some physical buttons. In my opinion, having some buttons and toggle switches makes the cabin look less boring. One cool feature is the super cruise along with so many options that you could add but of course adds to the price. When it comes to space, I had no issues sitting in the front. I had plenty of leg and head space even with my seat positioned higher. The back seats were also comfortable but not that much space for tall individuals. Someone shorter would have no issues sitting comfortably as the knees would not sit tightly behind the driver/front passenger seat.

Exterior

The exterior of the CT5 is also great looking. It is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels. It almost looks a bit intimidating and something I’ve always liked about Cadillacs are their LED lights on their vehicles. It has a sharp look and overall good looking. It also has a sportier look to it compared to previous generations.

Pros/Cons

Although the CT5 is a great looking car and drives decently, I would not consider or recommend the 2.0L. I have yet to drive the V6 and maybe my opinion about the CT5 would be slightly different.  For now, even though it is not too bad on gas, has a great interior and is comfortable, I don’t feel that it is worth buying. The starting price of the 2025 CT5 Sport is $58,333 CAD ($53,165 USD) The starting price for the premium luxury 3.0L V6 is $62,358 CAD ($55,255 USD).
