There are quite a few sports cars out there, but they can be very pricey. If you are on a budget but would still like a car that looks and drives sporty, then the 2025 Acura TLX Type – S is one to consider. You get a lot of features for what you would be paying for, which is great as this tends to rack up the price as in its competitors.
Engine/Transmission
The 2025 Acura TLX Type-S has a 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine that produces 355hp and 354lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that feels smooth and quick when shifting. The Type-S is only available with an AWD system. It drives sporty and is quick when you put your foot down. It is rated for 12.3 L/100km in a city and 9.8 L/100km on a highway. I averaged 11.7 L/100km with mostly highway driving. Not so fuel efficient but that may also depend on your driving style. The TLX Type-S is a lot of fun, so it is hard to not drive enthusiastically at least for the first few days of having it.
Handling/Performance
The TLX Type-S has a firm ride which allows you to feel the bumpy roads so it’s something to note when driving around the city. It is responsive to your steering input which makes it very entertaining when driving around windy roads. Driving in somewhat tight corners does not make you feel like you will roll to the side, so it allows you to push a bit quicker. I also noticed it has strong brakes so needing to come to a complete stop at almost the last minute is not an issue.
Interior/Comfort
The interior of the TLX Type-S is great! It has an expensive look to it both inside and outside. It has great materials to touch and an overall attractive interior design. As many have said it, and I will say it too; the infotainment system can be a bit tricky at first to navigate. This is due to the touchpad as it does not have a touchscreen. Some may hate it but I actually didn’t mind it as much throughout the mid to end of the week with the TLX Type-S. It takes a bit of time to get used to, but it isn’t all that complicated to use. It may be distracting but then again when driving, you really shouldn’t be fooling around with the screen. Important features like climate control are just a button touch away. Although the TLX Type-S looks a bit long, that isn’t the case when it comes to the back seats. You don’t get much leg space as compared to some of its competitors. It is, however, wide, which is great as you won’t feel so squished if you have the full row full. The front seats, however, have plenty of leg room and headroom at least for average-sized individuals. It has a 16-way power adjustable driver and passenger seat that also includes a 4-way power lumbar support.
Exterior
Just like the inside, it is a great looking sedan from the outside. It is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, it has Brembo front 4-piston braking system, a trunk spoiler, and quad-round exhaust finishers to name a few cool features.
Pros/Cons
The 2025 Acura TLX Type-S drives enthusiastically, it is comfortable, has a great interior and exterior and has a lot of features that would normally be expensive in other similar vehicles. On the downside, it is not as fuel efficient as its competitors and there isn’t a lot of leg space for the rear passengers, especially if the driver’s seat is pushed all the way back. I truly enjoyed driving the Type-S during my week and it is something I would consider for myself. Like I mentioned earlier, it has a fun side to it and all for a lesser price than most. The starting price of the 2025 Acura TLX Type-S is $68,860 CAD ($58,050 USD).
