The 2026 Kia EV9 GT-Line is stylish while still being a family friendly EV SUV with a 3rd row. It is powerful but still comfortable and practical for families. You don’t always get to combine power with comfort that often.
EV Motor/Performance
The EV9 GT-Line is equipped with a 99.8 kWh battery and produces 379 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. As expected, EV’s are quick and this EV9 is no different. For 2026, the new high performance EV9 GT has an electronic LSD for better cornering stability and off-road traction but sadly, this GT-Line does not get the e-LSD. When it comes to EVs, there are very few things that can differentiate one from another but in this EV9 there are some details. One being that although it is a heavy SUV, it still is quick from a stop at 5 seconds from 0-100 km/h (60mph). It has an estimated driving range of about 451km (270 miles) which is pretty good for a heavy SUV. Although it does drop a bit compared to the entry level but not by much so it shouldn’t be a big deal since it compensates with greater power. Whether you drive on highways or city streets, it is comfortable as the suspension absorbs bumps easily. As mentioned earlier, since it is quick, there are no issues with overtaking another vehicle. It is also quite responsive to your inputs, so it almost feels sporty.
Interior/Comfort
There is plenty of space in the Kia EV9 both in the front and rear seats. You have the option of 6 or 7-passenger seats. The interior material quality is great to the touch and feels very premium-like inside the cabin. With the new GT, you get bolstered sports seats and a GT exclusive steering wheel to name a few. It is equipped with dual 12.3-inch displays that are easy to navigate. It is straightforward to use and within seconds you get the hang of it. Unfortunately for those who prefer physical buttons, you won’t find many other than a knob for the volume which is perfect for me and buttons for the climate control. Really it’s all you need to be playing around with when driving IMO.
Exterior
It may not be everyone’s cup of tea as some may say it looks too boxy or too futuristic but I find it to be great looking. Yes, it looks very modern and I’m not always a fan of that but I do like how the EV9 GT-Line looks with its 21-inch wheels, digital lighting grille, and ambient mood lighting (inside).
Pros/Cons
Now comes the not so fun part but as expected, EVs are not cheap at the moment. If you want power, great range, comfortable but sporty, then there is always a high price to pay for these things. You just have to find the right one worth paying for. The 2026 Kia EV9 GT-Line is $79,495 CAD ($71,900 USD).
