The Jaguar F-Type has been with us since 2013. In that time it has seen minor changes to its styling and to its powertrain with the introduction of the P300 and SVR variants. For 2021, the F-Type sees its biggest changes to date. It’s not a completely new generation of the car, but it puts the car more inline with other current Jaguar models.
By far the biggest change for 2021 is the front fascia. The headlights are slimmer with the newer version of Jaguar’s “J blade” LED daytime running lights. The grille is similar to that of the I-Pace SUV but much larger to cool the engine. The lower air intakes on each side of the bumper are also larger for brake and oil cooling. The hood also sees changes with the removal of the large vertical vents and replaced with vents that are nearly identical to the ones found on the F-Pace SVR. In side profile, it remains unchanged, apart from new wheel designs. and the rear just gets slightly more angular LED taillights.
Inside the new 2021 Jaguar F-Type R, there isn’t much that is different. The biggest change is the driver display which is now a 12.3″ screen rather than analog gauges. The 10″ infotainment display remains and incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus over-the-air software updates.
The 2021 Jaguar F-Type will be powered by the same array of engines as previous models. A 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 producing 296 hp will be the base engine, a 3.0L supercharged V6 with 380 hp will be the step up, and the 5.0L supercharged V8 will be the top engine choice. That last engine though will not be called the SVR anymore and instead will just be the R model. But the new Jaguar F-Type R will have the power of the SVR with 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque and all-wheel-drive. All engines will send their power through an 8-speed automatic as the short-lived 6-speed manual option is no more.
Pricing and availability for the 2021 Jaguar F-Type will most likely be announced in early 2020.
