by: Mike Ginsca,

The BMW S1000RR saw a complete top to bottom update for the 2019 model year. It receives a completely redesigned 999cc engine that produces 204hp and 83 lb-ft of torque. It’s not a big jump in power from the previous generation but the engine alone is almost 10 lbs lighter and it gains BMW’s version of Variable Valve Timing (VVT) for an improved power band.

The frame has also gone under the knife and has shed some weight. Including the exhaust, the new generation 2020 BMW S1000RR shed 24 lbs in total weight.

Updated software and a new TFT display help keep the power on the road thanks to traction control, ABS, wheelie control, engine braking control, hill start, and clutchless shifting. Different drive modes help the rider stay in control and can be changed on the fly.

The new generation 2020 BMW S1000RR also receives an optional M package, just like the cars. Biggest difference though is that the bike gets carbon fiber wheels, something that the M cars don’t get… at least at this time.

Unfortunately I cannot do a review of this bike at the moment as this particular bike has not yet hit 1,000km. BMW bikes have a 6,000 rpm limiter which only gets removed by a BMW service technician after the break in process. Until then, enjoy the pictures and this bike was joined by each of the previous generation of S1000RR bikes.
